A serene and poetic creation by contemporary artist Masae Fujikawa, Oborotsuki (“Hazy Moon”) captures the quiet beauty of a night veiled in soft light. Crafted in the distinctive sōsaku kokeshi tradition, this piece reflects the artist’s expressive minimalism, gentle contours, and subtle emotional depth.
The doll features Fujikawa’s hallmark hand-painted detailing and textured finish, and a refined silhouette that brings both calm and presence to any display. Its delicately rendered face and muted tones evoke the tranquillity of watching the moon through a thin veil of clouds; an elegant embodiment of modern Japanese folk artistry.
This piece is in very good condition, with no real signs consistent with age.
A beautiful addition for collectors seeking contemporary works with lyrical charm, or for anyone drawn to the understated elegance of Japanese wooden art.
